justin timberlake eco-friendly golf courseWe reported earlier this month about singer and green celebrity Justin Timberlake purchasing an older golf course in Millington, Tennessee near Memphis and renovating the course to be more eco-friendly.  Recently the star has christened the greener golf course with its first round of golf since the green renovation.

Timberlake celebrated his green victory on the 10th tee by sailing his drive a little more than 291 yards.  He said after teeing-off that, ”nobody’s happier about this course”  than he is.

Snaps for this forward-thinking celeb.

coffee clothes eco-friendlyYep, you read that correctly.  Sportswear isn’t just made from cotton or hemp or bamboo anymore.  Check out these workout pieces made from coffee grounds that are sure to not only get you going but also start up a conversation.

Made from coffee grounds that usually end up in landfills across the nation, the new sportswear line is the brainchild of Jason Chen, the general manager of the Taiwanese Singtex Industrial Company.  Chen had the idea while he was drinking a Starbucks and wondering what else you could do with coffee grounds besides fertilize plants when he stumbled upon the idea of making apparel out of the tossed grounds.

The fabric itself is similar to the viscose-like material made from bamboo and is perfect for layering.  Today, coffee ground clothing, tomorrow who knows?!

Keep it green!

justin timberlake eco-friendly golf coursePop star Justin Timberlake can be found, when he’s not performing in front of thousands of screaming fans, on the golf course.   Timberlake has become quite passionate about the game in the last few years and is now taking his love of the environment to the course as well.

Timberlake has recently purchased an older golf course and invested around $16 million in making it more eco-friendly.

The singer says of this plans, “Originally it was called Woodstock Hills, and it was the first place my dad taught me to hit a ball. And last year we found out they were going to auction it off and turn it into a development. So we thought it was such a landmark for the community, we’d scoop it and save it. And we did. We were able to before it was auctioned off.”
