Obama’s Plant White House Organic Garden
After several different organic food advocates pressured the new Presidential family to plant an organic garden, the Obamas listened.
Last week First Lady Michelle Obama planted a fruit and vegetable garden on the White House grounds. The 16-acre garden located to the south of the D.C. property will be maintained by the National Park Service but the planting and sowing will be up to the Obama’s and White House staff.
Michelle Obama stated in O magazine’s April issue how important the new garden was to her and her causes, saying, “We want to use it as a point of education, to talk about health and how delicious it is to eat fresh food, and how you can take that food and make it part of a healthy diet.”
