On Wednesday the NYPD introduced their new and eco-friendly patrol cars with the addition of Ford Fusion hybrids.

Of the new fleet, Mayor Bloomberg stated, “These vehicles use less fuel and emit fewer pollutants into the air we breathe.”

The Fusion hybrids will gradually be replacing all the 3,000 gas-guzzling Chevy Impalas that regularly patrol New York’s streets.

It’s the high summertime and that means plenty of water to stay cool, but how are you trying to conserve this natural resource?

1. Keep that shower to five minutes tops, this will save you as much as 1,000 gallons a month!
2. If you turn off the water while you’re brushing your teeth, did you know you’ll save around 200 gallons of water per month?
3. Be sure to repair all leaky faucets as this will save not only water but money in the long haul.
4. Install water-saving shower heads in each bathroom, and check out low-flow faucet aerators.
5. Toilets are not garbage cans!
6. Rinse your veg and fruit in a pan full of water versus letting the water run down on those babies!
7. Only use the washer when you have enough clothes to fill ‘er up.
8. If you have to water your lawn, let it rip during the early part of the day and never on the sidewalk!
9. Why not set your mower blades one notch higher, since longer grass means less evaporation?
10. Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks.

The Japanese company president Takanobu Ito recently revealed, “Honda has no future unless we achieve significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The next 10 years will be a true test for Honda’s survival.”

While there are no details as of yet about the news cars, Honda has stressed that using green technology is the only way they will survive the competition.
