29-year-old actress Jessica Alba has been seeking the advice of her Twitter followers in helping her create an eco-friendly Easter basket for her 2-year-old daughter Honor.

With Jessica preggers again, we’re sure she’s under a lot of pressure to get things organized and not enough time to do it in, so we thought we’d lend a hand.

First off, Jess, consider this a homemade task and look at what you have around the house.  If you already have a basket, voila!  Now to just decorate it!  Instead of green artificial grass, how about heading to your local organic florist and grabbing up some flowers and greenery.

Using craft wire, assemble the basket the night ahead of time with flowers pinned around the handle of the basket and the greenery at the bottom.  Once complete, store the basket in the fridge for safe keeping and now all you have to do is fill it up with homemade cookies and treats!

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the bend and we wanna know if you already have your party plans in place.

St. Patty’s is one of our favorite holidays and eco-friendly-ing it up is even more fun!  This year, why not try the tips below to make your Irish holiday that much better?!

1.  Party it up with carpooling pals.  Don’t just meet at the Irish pub this year, instead meet your friends at a local park n’ ride or meet up at your place and carpool to your destination.  It’s safer, more green and this way you can better establish that all too important designated driver.

2. If you’re throwing your own St. Patty’s Day party this year, remember to use eco-friendly plates and utensils and try your hand at crafting your own decorations, go green while green!  We know you have a handcrafted shamrock in you!

3.  Go local.  Check around local breweries that will be offering up green beers this year.  Shamrock cookies and shortbread will be easily found at local bakeries, maybe even a local organic bakery!

Whatever you decide to do this St. Patrick’s Day, keep it safe and keep it green!

For some of us in the States, the weather this week has been a godsend, sunshiny days with temps finally rising above freezing.  So, what better way to celebrate this welcome weather than with an impromptu cookout?

We know, we know, Valentine’s Day isn’t even here and gone yet and we’re already thinking about Easter baskets, but give us a break, we’re holiday lovers!

1. Plan ahead!  Start saving any green plastic recycling so you can reuse and recycle and make your own basket grass!
2. Be creative and make bunny paw prints out of paper leading to your well-crafted baskets.
3. Make your own candy this year by getting a jump start on some organic chocolate recipes, yum yum!!!
4. Creating your own organic Easter eggs is easier than you think!  Just get some cage free eggs, some eco-friendly food coloring and it’s a snap!
5. Make your own gifts to fill the basket, you don’t have to buy Easter happiness!

Super Bowl XLV is just around the corner and it’s high time you started your preparations for that party of yours.

The first thing you should remember when planning this year’s Super Bowl extravaganza, is that you’re keeping in green all the way and we have some great tips for you!

1. Don’t buy paper plates again this year, keep it reusable or if you have to, purchase recycled paper products.
2. When making those infamous chicken wings, be sure to either buy local or go organic.
3. Make it healthier this year with fresh squeezed organic screwdrivers and all organically grown ingredients.
4. Is it possible to do your Super Bowl shopping on your bike instead of that gas guzzler?
5. After the party’s over, just throw all the leftovers in the compost bin, and voila!

It’s that time of year again when we don the tinsel and prop up the tree with more lights than it can possibly hold!  This year’s holiday season we’re making even more eco-friendly with a helpful hint list to keep you on your mistle-toes!

1. Replace your holiday lights with energy efficient LED lights.
2. Use a power strip for your holiday decorations, all you have to do is hit the on / off switch and you’re set!
3. Be mindful of the gifts you choose to give.   How about picking out some organic cotton sweaters this year?
4. Choose a live tree, it’s better and greener and you can even plant one for next year in the yard!
5. Recycle old electronics.  You might be getting excited about this holiday season’s gadgets, so find a home for the old ones and don’t just trash them!
6. Reuse boxes and gift wrapping materials or make your own out of brown paper and white ink and a snowflake stamp!

No matter what your holiday traditions are, being eco-friendly is a great way to celebrate the season!

It’s getting colder and colder as December is just a few weeks away and it’s time to start thinking of creative ways to keep it green this winter season.

Here is a quick tip list to keep you eco-friendly this jaw-trembling season so you can easily stay on the green path!

1. Keep your heater set at a lower temperature than last year and layer up, or even better, snuggle up with your honey!
2. Install weather stripping to keep your house even warmer and save energy on all that heating.
3. Provide your pets with an electric blanket at night so they stay warm while you keep the temp settings lower.
4. Check into eco-friendly winter coats and gloves this year, you’ve been waiting to make the plunge but now it’s time to commit!
5. How about knitting your own winter sweater?!

Almost everyone loves Halloween where the fall season’s crisp air fills you with pumpkin pie memories and perfect costume ideas and we’re certainly no exception.  Halloween is practically our most favorite holiday and this year we’re gonna keep it more eco-friendly than ever with these helpful holiday hints!

1.  Don’t buy a costume, make one up!  The best part of the dress-up season is creating your own costume from scratch or with the help of a local thrift store.  From a black-eyed pea to a Chilean miner, you can easily come up with some creative ways to dress up this year.  And you’ll be recycling and reusing with that thrift store trip!

2.  Buy green candy treats instead of the usual variety this year.  From making your own pumpkin seeds to hand out or finding organic gummy treats, eco-friendly up your goodies!

3.  Decorate with nature instead of buying out Target.  Use acorns and fall leaves to create your Halloween wonderland and you won’t be disappointed.  Even making your own decorations is better for the environment than buying the latest accessory!

Be creative and have fun!

No matter what you and your family decide to dress up as this Halloween, face paint is always a great way to add a little more pizazz and we have the perfect, eco-friendly scoop for you this Monday morning!

1. Food coloring + body cream. Food coloring, and anything else food-grade, is skin-friendly, although you’ll certainly want to choose liquid food coloring over the professional-quality paste food dyes, which are stronger and will definitely stain. Most folks use cold cream as the carrier for the dyes, but I prefer to use the same gentle diaper cream left over from when my kids were babies; if it’s okay to put on a newborn’s butt, I figure it’s okay to put on my four-year-old’s face.
2. Makeup. Yeah, it’s not as natural and chemical-free  as the stuff that I put on my kid the rest of the year, but at least I’m much more confident that it’s not contaminated with bacteria or heavy metals. Although lipsticks and rouges in the reds and pinks are certainly easier to find, it’s possible to find cosmetics in every color in the world, especially if you go to one of those beauty supply stores in the strip mall.
3. Food-based paints. Fair warning- this is the only option that I haven’t tried personally, but if your kiddo’s skin is so sensitive that it can’t tolerate any chemicals, then it makes sense to try beet juice or blackberries or turmeric blended with cocoa butter. People say it does work, although I can’t imagine that the colors will be as vivid as your kiddo may be expecting.
4. Store-bought natural paint. If you want to use store-bought face paint, then my advice is to at least skip the seasonal stuff. Professional-quality face paint may still have cosmetic-grade chemicals, but it’s at least unlikely to be contaminated. Even better are the paints sold by those hippy-dippy natural parenting shops that I tend to frequent, which will generally alert you to the fact that they’re paraben-free, petroleum-free, FD&C dye-free, etc. These paints have the advantage that they can be used by kids who like to dress up all year long.

Don’t throw that old Sprint handset in the trash!  That’s one big no-no!

Throwing your cell phone and old electronics in the trash will only lead to further contamination of the land.  Instead, research the best places to toss your old iPhone, you’ll be surprised just how convenient it is!

Everyone from the emissions testing facility to your local recycling depository will have a bin for your old digits.  Keep it real and keep it green!
