Good news from the Coca Cola company, they’ve added sugar to their Dasani water and Odwalla juice brands, but not where you think!

The company has done a great thing by making their Dasani water and Odwalla juice bottles more eco-friendly by making them from plant-based materials, which is mostly sugar cane.

Now all Dasani bottles and Odwalla single-serving bottles will be available exclusively in PlantBottle packaging which is great news for all us juice and water lovers out there.  Now if we can only convince ourselves to cut this silly bottled water business!

Claiming to be the World’s First Eco-Friendly Premium Spirit, 360 Vodka has been making headlines and happy mouths since its debut in 2008.

Not only is 360 Vodka shipped in a 85% recycled glass bottle with a New Leaf 100% PCW paper label using water-based inks instead of petroleum-based inks for label and packaging printing, this vodka also comes with a prepaid postage envelope allowing you to mail back the recyclable flip-top closure for re-use.

And the eco-friendliness doesn’t stop there!

All impurities are removed by distilling the vodka four times using the column distillation process and later it is filtered five times though granulated charcoaled coconut shell filtration system. The state-of-the-art distillery meets or exceeds all EPA air and water quality standards for distilleries. The production process reduced its volatile organic compounds output by 70% and sulfur dioxide emissions by 99% and the company states that it uses 250% less fossil fuel energy during production process.

If all of that wasn’t good enough for you, the company pledged to donate $20 from the sale of each case of 360 Vodka in Florida to the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Florida nonprofit marine conservation organization which protects marine resources in the state. Lastly, nationwide a “close the loop” initiative is taking place whereby McCormick Distilling promises to donate $1 for environmental causes.

New Zealand wine producer, eco.love, has just come out with a series of premium eco-friendly wines that are hitting the US market.

Crafted in New Zealand at their location that boasts carboNZero certification, these wines are lovingly made using sustainable farming methods, clean energy and restoration of natural wetland habitats.  The new collection includes Sauvington Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Noir.

eco.love Wines co-founders Andrea & Robin McBride said that the company is excited about sharing not only its wine, but its wine experiences in an interactive, social environment.

Tentatively named “Stephanie’s” the new chain would take advantage of green technology such as grass parking lots, rooftop garden areas, home delivery via electric cars and biodegradable cutlery.

The menu would of course feature healthier options compared with the Big Mac like “pork-and-sweet-potato kabobs, apple-cinnamon steel-cut oats and smoked-chicken sweet pea soup.”

The former McD’s gang hopes to open the first Stephanie’s in 2011.
