E.Coli Can Clean Up Nuclear Waste Cheaply

E.Coli isn’t just for sick people anymore.  According to researchers at Birmingham University, E. Coli bacteria can effectively break down nuclear waste.

A new study has shown that the bacteria can break down phytic acid and release the phosphate molecules which bind uranium to create uranium phosphate precipitate, which then can be harvested to recover uranium and hence, no more nuclear waste.

Using poop to clean up poop.  Wow.
